Pope Francis’s pact with the young people: to give a new personality to the economy

The Edmund Mach Foundation hosted a lectio magistralis by Stefano Zamagni for 220 students of the Agricultural Institute on Tuesday 21st January at 10.30 am. The title was “Pope Francis’s pact with the young people: to give a new personality to the economy”. It’s the first initiative supported in Trentino South Tyrol in preparation for The Economy of Francesco, which is the international meeting that will take in place in Assisi from 26th to 28th March, strongly desired by Pope Francis, and that will have numerous Nobel Prize winners in Economy.

The Trentino initiative is promoted by Antonio Rosmini high school, by the Formation EdC Trento group, in collaboration with TrentUno ONLUS Cultural Centre, don Lorenzo Guetti Foundation and AIPEC (Italian Entrepreneurs' Association for an Economy of Communion).
The event at the Rosmini high school is placed inside a project that has involved a class of the fourth grade in a course of study on the perso of Chiara Lubich from Trentino (founder, among other things, of the Economy of Communion) and a class of the fifth class in a course about economics and ethic. The Institute opened its doors also to different classes of other schools in Trento that carried out, or are carrying out, cycles of lessons and detailed studies on Civil Economics, Economics of Communion or more generally on ethics in the Economy. G. Galilei and L. Da Vinci scientific high schools and S.Scholl linguistic high school took part in it.
The event remained open to other high school students who are interested in the presentation.

Stefano Zamagni, civil economist and president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, guest of the Assisi meeting, will meditate with the guys upon the main contradictions of the present economic model and he’ll propose actions and economy measures which are more respectful of the person and the environment.

The international event of Assisi, as it is known, unique of its kind, assigned to the scientific direction of prof. Luigino Bruni, will host 500 young scholars and businessmen exclusively under 35, coming from all over the world.

Pope Francis’s wish is to make a deal with young people, beyond the differences of belief and nationality, to change the present economy and give a soul to the economy of tomorrow so that it will be fairer, more sustainable, more inclusive.
